Inner line Permits: Indian do not require any permit to enter into Sikkim but for visiting some places a permit is required that will be taken care by your tour operator. One need to submit there details like Name ,Age & Gender at the time of booking a tour . For Tsomgo & North Sikkim , permit will be issued one Day in advance (Between 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm). Same day permit will not be issued . We need for processing of processing of permit in advance :Name Address, Age & Gender ,photo-copy of Id proof& two copy passport size photograph. It mandatory that guest should carry photo proof identity card i.e. voter ID card ,etc.

All foreign tourists other than Nepal & Bhutan national require a passport with an India visa prior to arrival. Visitors require an inner Line permit (IPL) to enter Sikkim. An ILP is valid for 15 day & can be extended by the state Government twice for 30 day of 15 days each . IPL are available at all India missions, Sikkim tourism office at New Delhi Kolkata & Siliguri on the basis of an India visa. For those interested in going for trekking in the interior regions of the state, the Department of tourism issues protected are permit(PAP) at Gangtok which I available for certain specified area groups of two or more foreigners

HOW TO REACH:

By Air: The nearest Airport Bagdogra (124 km )is directly connected with Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati by all major Airlines.

By Helicopter: Daily helicopter service-Gangtok-Bagdogra-Gangok .

By Rail: Nearest railway stations are Siliguri (114 km)/ New Jalpaiguri (120 km ) Where NJP is directy connected by rail to all the major places in India .

By Road: From Siliguri, road starts for Gangtok on NH 31 and then branches off to NH 31 A from sevoke, 20 km from siliguri.the main link between Gantok and rest of the country is through siliguri (110 km).

The state cultural life is related to Tibetan religious and aesthetic traditions. The cultural climax of the year comes with the two day Phanglhapsol festival ,when Masked dances are performed in honor of presiding deity and the mountain. There are also many secular folk dances. The Namgyal institute of Tibetology has one of the largest collection of Tibetan books in the word. Many Buddhist monasteries are repositories of artistic treasure, including wall paintings, Tankas (religious paintings mounted on brocade) and bronze images .

Way of Living

Tourism and agriculture are two basis of the Sikkim,s economy. Sikkim is one of the word,s and main producers of Cardamom,and the region has also become an exporter of mandarin oranges Apples, and potatoes. Sikkim is also rich in mineral wealth. Its forests have economic value in sawn timber and wood pulp. Sikkim,s cotton and wool weaving carpets, rugs blankets and bamboo work is well know .
