Covered by the mighty Brahmaputra-Barak river systems and their tributaries. Geographically, apart from the Brahmaputra, Barak and Imphal valleys and some flat lands in between the hills of Meghalaya and Tripura, the remaining two-thirds of the area is hilly terrain interspersed with valleys and plains; the altitude varies from almost sea-level to over 7,000 metres (23,000 ft) above MSL. The region’s high rainfall, averaging around 10,000 millimetres (390 in) and above, creates problems of ecosystem, high seismic activity, and floods. The states of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have a montane climate with cold, snowy winters and mild summers.

Your Day-by-Day Itinerary

DAY – 1: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG

Arrival at Guwahati airport.Drive to Shillong.En-route visit Umium Lake. Check-in at Hotel. Visit Don Bosco Museum, Golf Course, Wards Lake.Evening roam around Police Bazaar one of the famous shopping hubs in India. Overnight in Shillong.

DAY – 2: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE – SHILLONG

Day trip to Cherrapunjee. En-route visit Shillong Peak and then proceed to Elephant Falls before finally leaving for Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on earth where we will be exploring the Mausmai Cave, the Naukalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Ramkrishna Mission. Return to Shillong and overnight.

DAY – 3: SHILLONG – SILCHAR

Transfer to Silchar. Evening at leisure and overnight.

DAY – 4: SILCHAR – AGARTALA

DAY – 5: AGARTALA

Local sightseeing of Agartala.The major interest of the town is the Ujjayanta Palace, which was built in the Indo-Saracenic style in 1901 by Maharaja RadhakishoreManikya. Sepahijala wild life sanctuary, Kamala Sagar, situated about 55 km from Agartala is Neermahal, Tripura’s major tourist attraction. It is a summer resort built in the middle of a lake named Rudrasagar, with a total area of about 5.35 sq. km. It is the only lake palace in Eastern India and has been built in a mixture of Hindu and Mughal styles. Overnight in Agartala.

DAY – 6: AGARTALA – SILCHAR

Transfer to Silchar. Evening at leisure and overnight.

DAY – 7: SILCHAR – AIZAWL

Start early in the morning. On arrival check in at Hotel and Overnight in Aizawl.

DAY – 8: AIZAWL

Sightseeing of Aizawl town which will include the visit to the State museum (This museum is situated at Mc Donald Hill in the town centre. Open Monday – Friday from 9:00 A.M to 5 PM. Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM. Though small, it has an interesting collection of historical relics, ancient costumes and traditional implements), Bara Bazar(This is the main shopping centre with stalls selling garments and other commodities). Big Drum of Aizawl and Model Village at Falkawn. Overnight Aizawl.

DAY – 9: AIZAWL – SILCHAR

Transfer to Silchar. Overnight in Silchar.

DAY – 10: SILCHAR – SHILLONG

ransfer to Shillong. Evening at leisure and overnight.

DAY – 11: SHILLONG – BHALUKPONG

Morning drive to Bhalukpong. Visit Tipi Orchidarium, a glass house with over 1000 Orchids. Overnight in Bhalukpong.

DAY – 12: BHALUKPONG – DIRANG

Transfer to Dirang. Visit the Apple Orchid, Hot Water Spring & the Yak Research Centre. Overnight at Dirang.

DAY – 13: DIRANG – TAWANG

Drive passing through typical Monpa village at Dirang. After viewing the beautiful valley of Dirang overlooking the river and inhabited by colourful tribals, proceed towards the Sela Pass (13703 ft) spend some lovely times by the paradise lake Overnight in Tawang.

DAY – 14: TAWANG

Full day explore Tawang Monastery, founded by Mera Lama LodreGyaltso during 17th century A.D. a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama. Visit Tawang War Memorial.Overnight at Tawang.

DAY – 15: TAWANG – BOMDILA

Early morning, drive to Jang to get a breath taking view of waterfalls. Pay homage at the JashwantGarh Indo Chinese War Memorial and downhill drive to Bomdila. Overnight in Bomdila.

DAY – 16: BOMDILA – KAZIRANGA

Drive to Kaziranga. Rest of the day at leisure.Overnight at Kaziranga.

DAY – 17: KAZIRANGA

Full day at Kaziranga National Park. Enjoy the elephant safari & jeep safari inside Kaziranga National Park. Visit the Orchid Park. Overnight at Kaziranga.

DAY – 18: KAZIRANGA – KOHIMA

Transfer to Kohima. Evening at leisure.Overnight at Kohima.

DAY – 19: KOHIMA

Visit II world war cemetery, Nagaland State Museum, Kohima Botanical Garden. Overnight in Kohima.

DAY – 20: KOHIMA – IMPHAL

Transfer to Imphal. En-route visit Heritage village, a model village for all the major tribes of Nagaland. Reach Imphal. Overnight at Imphal Hotel.

DAY – 21: IMPHAL

Full day sightseeing of Govindajee Temple, Loktak Lake(largest fresh water lake in north east), INA Memorial(Indian Tri colour was first hoisted here by NetajiSubhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army), Japanese War Memorial, SaduChiru waterfalls. Overnight in Imphal.

DAY – 22: IMPHAL – DIMAPURL

Transfer to Dimapur. Evening you can have some shopping in the local market. Overnight at Dimapur.

DAY – 23: DIMAPUR – GUWAHATI

Transfer to Guwahati. Evening at leisure.Overnight at Guwahati.

DAY – 24: GUWAHATI SIGHTSEEING

Full day Guwahati sightseeing. Visit Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. Evening river cruise at Brahmaputra. Overnight at Guwahati.

DAY – 25: GUWAHATI DEPARTURE
