Assam–The Rhino Land

The temple of nine planets situated on Chitra Chal Hill in Guwahati. It is only 3 km away from the Railway station. In ancient times, it was said to have been a great center of study of astronomy and astrology. This also one of the reasons why Guwahati is referred to as Pragjyotishpur or city of eastern astrology.

The great Shiva temple situated on the Peacock island in the middle of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati attracts devotees from all over the country during Shiva Ratri. One can visit the temple by crossing the river by country boat plying from Kachari ghat on the north bank of the Brahmaputra opposite Guwahati, where the Pandava Arjun is believed to have watered his horse while undertaking journey during Ashwswamedh Yajna. Regular ferry services are available to this place.

Assam State Museum : The Assam state Museum house has important artifacts to see. A visit to it is a must if one is to get an idea of the richness and diversity of the regions historical past. Botanical Gardens : The location of the state zoo cum botanical garden is one of the best the country several species seen here are success stories in conservation and have been in captivity. The botanical gardens are great source of interest.

Vashishtha Ashram situated in the southernmost city on the Sandhyachal hill is a tranquil spot to visit. Thick forests surround the area. It is said that sage Vashishtha had established his Ashram here. Three gusting rivulets meet at point the temple. The temple here is also worth a trip

The complex is spread over 10.28 hectare has a literally dance drama department, an Art Department, Cultural museum, and a Heritage Park , an Open Air Theater and an Artists Village

Tirupati Bajaji Temple :A recently done Temple of lord Balaji. A favorite among the locals, it is beautifully carved out of with marble stones with striking south Indian architecture. It’s nice place for a day out and on a holiday, we could make a local friends here.

River Cruise at Brahamputra : In the evening set out on a River cruise to watch the sun go down the Brahmaputra River and see yourself why the river is locally called “Luit- color of blood”.
